Nantucket on The Severn

Nantucket on the Severn was a Show House done for the Breast Cancer Society in Severna Park, Md. Fitzsimmons Design Associates was awarded the Guest Bedroom with the adjoining Bath. To create the “Chesapeake Cozy” interior we used shells and other nautical influences in our accessory selection for the coral painted room. The headboard was custom designed in a matalasse that had a coral pattern embossed in the fabric. The shells and sea glass were worked into a trough across the headboard. We also had tiny shells hand sewn onto our sheer curtains that blew in the gentle breeze coming in the window. Danny McPherson installed our custom beadboard design around the top of the room with a crown molding and columns. The antique shutters that flanked the console table were from Cape Cod. They framed out the antique book plate prints of our group of sea gulls.

In the adjoining Bath we incorporated shells into the tile design with blue and teal glass mosaics. Our faux artist painted a heron looking out to the water in a blue/white delft style. We even had fun with the towels! We had them embroidered with the 5 nearest beaches.
